John Baradekji, 28, was charged with third-degree operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license while being involved in a fatal crash, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond Santiago said in a news release on Thursday, Oct. 24.
Holmdel police responded to the crash near the intersection of Bethany Road and Galway Drive at around 7:34 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 12. Investigators said Baradekji was driving a 2008 Kia when he struck Timothy Neher of Holmdel.
Officers found Neher in the road and he was rushed to Bayshore Medical Center. The 65-year-old was pronounced dead at 8:41 a.m.
Neher grew up in Camby, Indiana, and graduated from Indiana State University, according to his obituary from Woolley-Boglioli Funeral Home. He accepted his first job in Newark and moved to New Jersey to start a family.
The lifelong fisherman, skier, and golfer was also active in his church as a deacon and property chair. He coached children’s basketball and softball teams, as well as volunteering with the Boy Scouts of America.
Neher returned to his native Hoosier State annually for Indiana's most iconic sporting event. He attended the Indianapolis 500 every year for 56 years in a tradition he shared with his father and son.
Neher also enjoyed walking at Bell Works, Cross Farms Park, and other spots along the Jersey Shore.
"Tim adored the memories he created with his family at their shore home in South Seaside Park, where they spent many summers crabbing, clamming, and fishing together," his obituary read.
